After 4 days in Cebu, we had one day to unpack and pack for our next destination. If you don’t know already, our family loves going to the beach. That’s why, for the second part of our wild ‘Amazing Race’, we chose to go to Puerto Galera in Mindoro. We stayed there for 5 days. I was looking forward to this leg because I’ve never been to this place and my mom’s side of the family has not been back for over 10 years. Once again, I brought friends. Ysabela, my very close relative and Yanna, a close friend of mine from school, who happens to be a natural at photography. That meant more pictures for us!
After driving 2 hours from Manila to Berberabe Port in Batangas and another hour boat ride to Mindoro we arrived at Puerto Galera. We checked ourselves in at Buri Resort and Spa in Sabang. The first day, was a lazy day. Watching movies, swimming and taking loads of pictures is all we did. Buri was a quiet place. It had very few rooms and there was no way to get there except by boat. It was nice but the downside was there wasn’t any beach! So instead of taking sunset pictures by the shore we found ourselves posing under the pier of the resort. And I was doing countless hair flips and twirls.
The next day, my grandfather dragged all of us to Infinity Resort in white beach. Their villas and facilities had a much more modern feel and this time, there actually was a beach! The resort reminded me of Discovery shores in Boracay, but a lot smaller. My tita said it looked exactly like Acuatico in Laiya, Batangas. Anyways, with adolescence kicking in, Yanna, Ysabela and I were in our own world being absolutely lazy. Ysabela told me, “I remember when we were younger, we would want to jump straight into the pool no matter how hot is was.” That made me wonder, what happened to us? With that in mind, later in the afternoon we had some shakes in the bar and swam a little. I want to believe that I’m still a kid, I just grew 🙂
Still in infinity resort, on the third day, we enjoyed their room massage, went swimming, and of course took loads of pictures once again. But, right before leaving for Buri, we visited the mangyan village. A small and happy community where locals would made products using wood and other natural items to sell to people like us. We didn’t stay for long, because we had to leave straight away, I was told the waves were much bigger and the current of the sea was much stronger. It was time to leave infinity and go back to Buri once again.
Easter sunday! This was probably the first time we didn’t have easter in our home like we always do. Nothing really changed except our limited supply of easter eggs. The big kids were only allowed to get 7 eggs! Unlucky for me, I didn’t get as much money as I hoped for. However, it sure was a fun hunt for easter eggs.
Our last night, was party night. Well not really, I guess my friends an I were just crazy and had nothing to do but take super saya pics as my tita would say 🙂
I’ll sure miss Puerto Galera. This is a trip that I will never forget. This trip has been filled with lots of pictures all thanks to my tito’s, tita’s and of course, Yanna! Don’t forget to follow her instagram account @colormesunshine.
We already had two trips full of swimming pools, sand and sea. If you don’t know already, Leg 3 is somewhere I went to just a few months back. 🙂
