After our press launch a few days back, the Style Lab team headed out to SM Dasmarinas for the first day of our style workshop. We were all full of excitement as we were curious of what it would be like. Coming from Manila, it was a long ride to Cavite, and our mentor Ms. Patty Betita talked to us about what to expect and what to prepare for. If not everyone, I especially was quite nervous as I’m not used to Question and Answer talks up on stage. In singing, dancing or skating, I knew exactly what to do unlike when you’re asked questions you’ll have to think fast on your feet. I remember my mom telling me, that I could only be heard by myself so it was obvious that I had to speak up.
Arriving at the mall, my nervous feeling switched into complete excitement as we were walking towards the event center. There it was, the elevated runway surrounded with loads of chairs and the racks of clothes right in front. There’s no doubt saying that the place was grand.
We were given quite some time to find one model from the crowd to style. For the 3 o’clock show I chose a little boy named Justin, because he looked very bubbly, happy and he was also really into his outfit. It was a blast working with him as he would randomly hug me for no reason, kind of like my brothers! For the 5 o’clock show, I chose a girl this time. I was looking for someone who wasn’t necessarily the prettiest but someone who was both confident and humble. That’s why I’ve chosen a girl named Brenda and I’ve been eyeing on her ever since I saw her. She was shy at first but later on she started to relax and open up. I didn’t style her but I liked her outfit as yellow is very eye-popping.
As for my outfit, I chose a turquoise top from SM kids fashion’s blush that was actually supposed to be worn the other way around but I found that the bow behind looked interesting. I paired them with denim shorts with floral detailing, a necklace and bangles from L’ Cherie and a pair of comfy wedges from chocolate schu bar. Just like always, I left my hair down.
Overall I had such a great time spending the whole day doing the Style Lab workshop. I was pretty tired and my feet were getting sore because of walking around all day in sky-high heels but it was absolutely worth it. This summer job is such an amazing experience, I guess now we know that its hard to make money and we should never take this for granted. I can’t wait for our next one this coming Sunday at SM San Lazaro 🙂
