I felt extremely excited when I found out I was going to the preview ball. Alexa’s mom, Alicia Sy (Lifestyle editor of Town and Country) made this happen. Knowing it was going to be held at Hyve made me realize this was not for the young ones. Nevertheless I still wanted to go, who doesn’t? It’s THE Preview Ball!
First off, my outfit. I had my dress made by Ivarluski Aseron who also made one of my dresses for my thirteenth birthday. Since the theme was dancing shoes, he suggested that the dress be simple in color so the shoes could stand out. My dress ended up with having a white base and grey lace layered on top of it. The more layers, the darker it got. I love my dress, it came out just they way I imagined. I had simple and ‘real’ accessories as my tita would say. For my shoes, I chose my pink wedges from CMG again! I knew I was standing all night and I didn’t want to take a chance with a new pair of shoe. Style was important but that night comfort was key if I wanted to make it through the night.
Right before I left my house, I remember everyone telling me that I looked old. It didn’t bother me since it was an adult party after all 🙂 Although I strongly believe in dressing age-appropriate, I also believe in dressing right for the occasion. So, I purposely dressed older than my age for this event.
Hair and make-up done, dress, shoes and accessories all accounted for, I was ready as ever. Together with Alexa and Tita Alicia, we made our way to Hyve to see all the people high up in the fashion world. I expected the place to be pretty grand and that’s exactly what we got. First thing Alexa and I did was to explore the place. Might I mention there were a lot of people. The party started at nine but most of the people came at eleven and who knows when it ended! They had several DJ’s playing that night, each representing a different music generation. People were dancing and partying all night.
Everyone had their eyes glued on to the stage and the screen as the program started. It was time to announce this years Manila’s Best Dressed. I didn’t know most of them but I saw Ivar Aseron, Laureen Uy, Camille Co, Patricia Prieto and Liz Uy on the screen. It’s not a surprise because they are all well-known and they have a great sense of style. Also on the best dressed list who I know of were Vice Ganda, Bea Alonzo, Belle, Daza and Ruby Gan of Myth.

Having Alexa by my side again, we were able to take pictures with the famous people we knew. Like in the SM Aura opening, I was the shy one and Alexa would be there to ask for pictures. We saw Kabbie Rodriguez-Alipio , Ivarluski Aseron, Robbie Carmona, Laureen Uy, Camille Co and Julia Barreto. We also saw Apples Aberin, Rajo Laurel, of course Preview Editor in Chief Pauline Juan, Myrza Sison, Lissa Kahayon, Tracy Ayson and many more.
The Preview Ball 2013 was something I will definitely remember. It’s one of those events that you certainly cannot miss and is an honor to be invited to. Thank you again to Tita Alicia for inviting me. I certainly had my dancing shoes on even if i didn’t get to dance :). This years ball was awesome. I hope I get to go again next year.
