I was psyched when i was told that the SM kids Fashion Style Lab will be given passes to watch the Forever 21 fashion show at SM Aura. You see, I have a thing for fashion shows. I like watching them on TV but I would rather see it live as it brings so much excitement: tall models, extravagant stages, ear-blasting music and paying attention to all the details in the clothes. Just as I expected, Forever 21 didn’t bring my expectations down, I loved it! It was cool how the models weren’t so serious and their eyes simply brought out the youth in them.

There were loads of people, more than I expected actually. Arriving quite early, we had some drinks at Starbucks and enjoyed the cocktails that were served before the show. I remember eating tons of cheese quesadilla with Allyzza. Being the shy person I am, I was surprisingly able to talk to quite a few people while standing impatiently for the show to start. I thanked Ms. Jo Dy Juanco (Vice President of SM kids fashion) and Ms. Jane Cheng (Marketing Manager of Forever 21 Philippines) for our chance to watch the fashion show and for the great seats.
I also talked to a few other people high-up in the fashion industry. I met Robbie Carmona, the top fashion show director in the country today and Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, an actress and blogger who happens to be a good friend of my aunties. I met top-fashion bloggers Patricia Prieto and Lissa Kahayon who were very kind indeed, and spotted bloggers David Guison and Alyssa Lapid as well. Here we go again, starstruck 🙂 It was also a “long time, no see” with my two friends Alex and Lyle. They were also part of the Total Girl model search winners for 2012. It was nice to see them!
As for my outfit, in the beginning I had no idea on what to wear. We were told to come in whatever our mood was for that day. Inspired from a school play of Alice in Wonderland, I felt curious. Curious on what was going to happen in the show itself and not knowing what to expect. Instead of wearing a drop-dead gorgeous cocktail dress, I decided to go with my very comfy pants. All the colors in my outfit represented curiosity as matching the colors I chose were unexpected. This outfit started to remind me of the mad hatter. Because of my daring outfit, I conquered a most stylish award with 2 others. I met a friendly girl named Jana Go, who is older than me yet very bubbly. We were discussing on how nervous and excited we were about going on stage. I was literally smiling before showing my face to the crowd, I was overjoyed! I was happy knowing that a tween like me can hold my own amongst the fast paced fashion world. I guess the fashion industry is really starting to notice that we do have a voice out there, with many bright ideas.
After my heart calmed down and eventually came back to its normal beat, it was time for the real show to start. Curtains up! Hosted by MYX VJ Joyce Pring, they opened with a few models posing comfortably on the top level of the stage. Out came the first, bravely walking across us, than the others started to follow. I was fascinated on how Forever 21 paired the clothes. Some, I never thought were even possible. First the ladies came out, the men close after (one looking creepily like Austin Butler), and the kids last. All the models walked two times and I wondered how they could all change so fast.
I liked these set of clothes especially because it screamed out summer and coincidentally, my summer is getting closer! I liked the combination of neon. denim and a hint of dark colors within the clothes. Their side-buns also added funk to their outfits.
I have to say it was an incredible night. Forever 21 definitely put on a great show. Visit F21 at the ground floor of SM Aura Premier, Bonifacio Global City. It’s definitely a place for trendy and up to date fashion at reasonable prices.
