Recently I celebrated my birthday with all my family and friends. Thirteen is one of those years that’s something special, and birthdays are big when you reach this age, at least for my family. As you grow older, there are different things a tween wants for a party, no more Disney sing-a-longs or ‘bring me’ game. My mom planned a wonderful party for me. It was definitely a night I will remember for life.
As a teaser, instead of the usual AVP’s you have in a party, we decided to change things up and created the ‘Absolutely Savvy’ magazine. For weeks of photo shoots and mini interviews everything finally came together. The basic idea was to create an online magazine that would be shown all night. But at the end, aside from the online version, the magazine was printed and displayed throughout the whole party. I’m so thankful to those who participated in to making my magazine a reality and it was such an amazing experience. (To see the rest of the magazine, go to my face book page here)
My party took place in West Greenhills Clubhouse which was the perfect size to fit all the guests. The whole area was covered with white draping, and white lounge furniture was also used. Simple and elegant center pieces, an LED screen, lighted dance floor and mood lighting completed the perfect feel. Spice it up with Sizzle Mobile Bar that served mocktails what else can you ask for?!?!?!
What’s a dance mixer without the best music? DJ Vinimal, Callum David started the party. And let me say there were quite a lot of people (girls especially) who went up to take pictures with him! After that was over, there was a short program for all my guests who came that night. Firstly my cousin and I sang quite touching songs but to keep everyone in a partying mood, I danced with my friends a couple of numbers, and my little bothers and cousins also gave a dance piece of their own. And finally the Video DJ ChrisMyk played top music hits and did awesome remixes for us to party all night long! Harlem Shake it was for all of us! 🙂
And finally, before i sign off on this post, I must not forget to mention my dresses! My first dress was from a top designer, Ivarluski Aseron. It was something different. There was an unusual hem and a sheer back which is Ivar’s signature look. I love this royal blue dress so much and it was quite amazing how it fit perfectly in my first fitting! Pairing this with my pink wedges from CMG was perfect. My second dress is from Viktoria Couture & Designs. I love that this dress is bright yellow which makes me stand out and the colour isn’t something you would normally wear.
My party was a blast and I find that it shoots up to the top along with mine and my brothers seventh birthday party. It definitely was a night to remember. What a great start to my teenage life. I know it will be a big roller coaster ride through the years. But if this party is a measure of what i am looking forward to, I’m ready to move on and see what is in-store for me in my tween and teenage years.
