Three years ago I blogged about my summer holiday in Europe with my trusty Lumix camera. (I still cringe at the photos and my writing style). Soon after, I graduated from automatic settings and switched to manual. I am now one of those tourist who carries a chunky DLSR camera everywhere I go; It’s hassle but it’s worth it. We went to London this spring break for a slightly different reason than just going on holiday – we went for university tours! *que anxiety* I don’t know where I’ll be studying but I guess the UK is an option. My parents said they’re okay with…

My dad claimed that he will "never get sick of Japanese food", and I finally discovered why this bold statement holds some truth. Earlier in the year, I said that I didn't know anyone who doesn't like Japanese food; it's because there are so many kinds. In Tokyo, we had yakitori, sushi and soba. This time around, we ate completely different things that are all within walking distance from one another. So if you find yourself in Namba, here are five places that will save you from an empty stomach from morning till midnight.   BREAKFAST. If I could only get one thing from this cafe…

I guess one reason why filipinos go to Japan nowadays is because we can shop for things that aren't sold in the Philippines. For instance, my brothers went crazy at the Pokemon center; They literally bought a bucket full of plushies for their birthday. In my case, I spent way more time than needed at Muji. There are a few stores here in Manila but in Japan, there's obviously a wider range of products and they're cheaper too. They also have a Muji cafe (that's where my dad and brothers stayed because we took too long).     Then there's universal studios, which is one of the…

It is extremely difficult to pull off a multi-themed resort, and Balesin does it effortlessly. It's normal to say "we're having breakfast at St. Tropez and going to Bali for lunch." Guests travel in golf cars, jeepneys or bikes rather than airplanes, and boredom doesn't exist. The best food is either at Mykonos (Greece), or Costa Del Sol (Spain). This post features only four of the seven places, meaning three days not enough time to explore the entire island.  I've been hearing so much about Balesin, and it was about time I finally saw it for…

Tali is the perfect place to go if you want to be alone. It's isolated all you can do is visit beaches and cliffs. My family spent two days there along with Alexa's (my classmate's) family, and we pretty much did nothing. I spent my time bonding with my brothers, doing PSAT practice tests with Alexa, and taking photos with Audrey (Alexa's sister). This isn't much of a travel post, but these set of photos were taken for fun while I was teaching Audrey how to use my camera. Alexa became our assistant, my brothers played frisbee and boom... photos! Tali is different from other filipino beaches - it's rocky…

Over the summer, I took a one-week course on Digital Journalism at New York University. Last year I was certain of applying to NYU, but my rough experience there made me take it out of my university list completely. Spending a week or so at a university helps you better understand the personalities of current students, and I was quick to realize that i'm not as bold and outgoing as those at NYU. I felt inferior due to ability and even race. My tita once told me that "every experience has its value". Call me a girl with a bad attitude or someone with an unlucky experience, but I feel that,…
