Deciding to stay in the Philippines this summer, my family and I started off our holiday with a short trip to Boracay, the most popular tourist destination in the Philippines. It is best known for the powder-like white beach. We stayed at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa this time. Whenever we go to Boracay we would either stay there or at Discovery Shores. Both resorts have their advantages and disadvantages but definitely you won’t regret staying in either one.
It was an enjoyable first day as once we checked in and unpacked, we headed straight out to D’mall! That’s the thing about traveling with a family like mine, you go everywhere :). We ate this really yummy chicken inasal place for lunch and my brothers and dad bought tank tops from the lonely planet.
Besides that we celebrated 2 things: Fourth of July and my dad’s birthday. It’s no question why I wore my american flag shirt and that’s as patriotic as it gets.
Back at the resort, we swam of course! Sadly, it rained that afternoon, but not before we were able to swim in the pool, but lets not focus on that. We did get to go to the adventure playground and the game room anyway. For my Dads’ birthday dinner, we ate in an itallian restaurant called Rima, it’s also inside the resort. Personally, italian cuisine is one of my favorites and I’m not really sure why.
Liking different things from one another, we got quite a lot. My brothers got pasta, my parents went with soup, I had to try out risotto and of course my brothers couldn’t leave out the steak. Ciabatta bread to start us off and a complementary dish which was ravioli. These dishes were overall delicious especially the ravioli. I can’t talk about every single dish or it would take ages! To make things straight, if you do go to Boracay and stay at Shangri-La, definitely eat at this restaurant.
The rain kept pouring throughout the night so after dinner we stayed in the room, watched TV and played twister. We all had a good night sleep getting ready for another fun-filled day.
Which sand castle is better? 🙂
Day two I spent the morning with my family heading out to the beach. I am not the person who likes to sun bathe or simply relax on beach chairs. Whenever I’m at the beach, I’m swimming, kayaking, feeding fish, snorkeling and even building sand castles with my brothers. If I’m not doing any of those, there are only two things you’ll catch me doing, swimming in the pool or taking pictures.
2B Cover up, H&M swimsuit, Toms sunglasses
As for my outfit, the colors I chose were very bright that’s perfect for the summer time. I paired a white bandeau top with a turquoise bottom and layered them with a orange cover up. It’s a fun color combination that doesn’t over do it. Lastly, I put on my famous aviator shades to protect my eyes.
However when I went swimming, I threw on a rash top, a HUGE hat and slapped on tons of sunblock. Those are the three thing that me and my brothers have to do in the beach to prevent ourselves from getting dark and having terrible sun burns, it works! I won’t want talk about what I did that afternoon because there’s much to say. That deserves another blog post :).
Last day at Boracay! We only had the morning to enjoy ourselves at the resort and we definitely made the most out of it. Back at the beach, we concentrated on observing the sea life. The five of us swam further out, brought boxes of bread and fed the fish surrounding us. I was frightened at first, scared that the fish would bite me. But later on I realized these creatures don’t harm you at all.
After the beach, we jumped in straight to the pool. Whenever I visit Shangri-La Boracay, I always try to have my picture taken between two posts at the main swimming pool. As my dad says I do my ‘famous skating poses’ and try to hold it as long as I can. Besides that, we just swam and swam :).
Does my swim suit look familiar? All the bloggers have been talking about I love koi and little did I know, that my Tita’s and I have been buying swimsuits from that store for quite some time now. Recently I bought one of their high-waisted swimming suits and if you ask me there’s nothing to wear them with as they look good alone already! Oh, and excuse me and my squinting eyes, I forgot to wear my sunglasses!
I’m definitely going to come back to Boracay, we go there all the time! Its been flying out there even for just a short while. If there’s one thing for sure, if you go to the Philippines, you have to go to Boracay. I’ll miss D’mall and swimming at the beach but it’s something ill look forward to the next time we come.It was a short trip but definitely a jam-packed one. A great way to start off our summer break. Watch out for more. So that was bye-bye Boracay 2013, ’till we come again :).
