A day after 7107, my brothers and I were able to have another go at something we never really do. If you’ve heard of Baler, do you know what is it known for? Surfing! Although it wasn’t our first time, we were eager to remember what riding the waves felt like.
Costa Pacifica was our home for the next three days. The hotel provided surfing instructors for us where we learned the basics: the correct stance and how to get up on your board. The first try, I fell as I tried to get up. It’s not quite easy at the start but I guess you’ll get the hang of it later on. My brothers were the same as me. On our first day and we were inconsistent, falling or managing to stay on.
My brothers were able to surf again the next morning. Lucky for them, they got an extra day of practice! Although I was supposed to surf on day 2, the waves were too high in the afternoon and no one was allowed to go out in the sea besides the professionals. So what did we do? Eat, sleep and lounge around :). By the way, their pizza is really good!
So even if I didn’t surf, I found myself running in and out of the water with my siblings :).
We had one more morning left of surfing. There we went with our matching wetsuits excited as always. I think its safe to say that all of us improved! I didn’t fall as much and could get up quicker than before. My brother Rico was even able to catch his own wave! That will be my goal for the next time we surf. Trying out something different was amazing. There was one of my new years resolutions practiced- Be Happy!
By the way, did you actually notice our long suits we wore most of the time at the beach? That’s my moms way of not getting dark or sun burned! Well that, slapping sunblock on every thirty minutes and wearing huge hats.
If you want to try surfing, I recommend going to Baler. Although its a long way away from Manila, its worth it! What I love about the beach here is that it’s all sand. You won’t get hurt by rocks or coral. Also if you do go to Costa Pacifica, bring marshmallows! They have a campfire outdoors and anyone can roast marshmallows at night. So, Don’t have anything planned for summer? Go surfing! It’ll be a heaps of fun.
