A lot of my friends have been telling me that they really wanted to sky dive after seeing our crazy pictures on Instagram and Facebook. Jumping out of a plane seems daunting. However, it isn’t as scary as you think. It’s even less nerve-racking than roller coasters in my opinion. Why? Three things: (1) You don’t see how high up you are because of the clouds, (2) the feeling of your stomach dropping only happens for about two seconds at the beginning and (3), the person handling the parachute does the jumping for you. Out of the twenty-one, only eight brave ones decided to dive including myself and my grandparents! The company provides packages that include full length go-pro videos of your whole jump. We all have videos and I’ll be watching mine in the near future to reminisce.
The nerves were getting to me as we were flying up in the tiny airplane. My instructor, Vicki said “we’re 4000 feet above the ground and about a third of the way up.” My eyes widened and I just smiled saying that I was both scared and excited. All the nervousness went away when we jumped out of the plane; embraced the exhilarating feeling during the free-fall; and admired the breathtaking view while traveling down back to where we began. My grandfather said that it was “five minutes of pure excitement.” Undoubtedly, it was. My favorite part had to be our 40 second free-fall, and I think everyone can agree with me on that. We’re no kryptonians but we certainly felt invincible. Without question, our sky diving experience was one of, if not, the top highlight of our trip. You honestly feel like you’re flying. If I had the chance, would I do it again? Definitely.
