The absence of sweets in this particular food finds series is all because of my lenten sacrifice. Silly me gave up chocolate not realizing that Sydney is home to maltesers, tim-tams and the Lindt Chocolate cafe. But in a time of darkness, there is always light (wow deep), and we found ourselves munching on steaks, corn and seafood. It seems as if my stomach was always full in Australia.
This is a “cook your own steak” restaurant. The steps are easy: (1) Choose your cut. (2) Season. (3) Pick your sides. (4) Grill. The place is ALWAYS busy, but the food is worth the wait.
Sydney Fish Market
Let’s take a moment to look at how humongous that crab is. Personally, I don’t eat crab but the rest of my family devoured it. Alternatively, I chose to go with simple fish and chips. It was nothing special but I enjoyed my meal because you can’t go wrong with a classic.
Sunday Market at the Rocks
Right beside our hotel was the Sunday market. We discovered THE sweetest corn ever. You get a choice of adding butter, salt and pepper too. You can’t go any sweeter than this. It was delicious, and I’m not even a corn lover.
It seems that going to this place was inevitable considering that there are an x number of “Vic’s” in our family. This is a place for meat lovers. The steak is so soft and even fatty that you can’t eat it without rice. Apart from their steak, they had burgers and pulled pork sandwiches too 🙂
I just wanted to give a heads up that the portions in Australia are huge. This country isn’t really known for their cuisine but you’ll be able to find a few great food spots here and there. Just remember to not order too much.
