I was overjoyed when I found out that Aeropostale was going to come to the Philippines. The brand is known for its bright color schemes, and very comfy pieces. I felt grateful when Tita Lindsey invited me to go to the Aeropostale grand opening launch at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center.

Arriving there, I felt we were in a park even if we were inside an air-conditioned mall. The event had wooden and white furniture everywhere with a few bright-colored cushion seats. Most people had to stand up, as the seats were limited. I think the objective was for people to mingle and hang out, just as one would in the real world . I invited my friends Mica and Julia to come with me and luckily, saw my other friends Alexa, Yanna, Bettina and a few other school friends there as well.
Before the show started, we were given red wrist tags indicating that we were under 18. Reason for this was the event served alcoholic drinks. But we need not worry, there was more than enough for us to munch on. There were hotdogs, popcorn, nachos and ice cream. We also took pictures in the Photo Booth which I must say was pretty cramped.
Third set (The brand ambassadors)
Onto the show itself, again Aeropostale gave us very bright and summer themed presentation with energetic models. The music was played live by a band called ‘She’s only sixteen’. The fashion show was different if you ask me. It was relaxed and more true to reality. The models were ‘high-fiving’, dancing and sometimes taking pictures on their iPhone! They were not the typical models who had to be tall, skinny and nowadays as preferred by many brands, “foreign looking”. I can honestly say that the models and ambassadors they chose are people one can related to on a day-to-day basis if you know what I mean. More importantly, there was not a single person who didn’t have a big smile on their face. It was just FUN FUN FUN! After the fashion show, one of the country’s top band, Up Dharma Down entertained the audience.
Mental note: Summer is just starting in the United Stated and in most of Europe that’s why these bright-colored trends are still very popular. Most of the foreign brands come from there and they follow 4 seasons when it comes to fashion trends: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. I’m sure fashion enthusiasts always encounter spring/summer collections and fall/winter collections from fashion sources.
Before heading home, we were able to take a glimpse of the new store. I didn’t know where to start as there was so much to choose from. Clothes, Bags, Shoes, sunglasses and even scarves were available. There was no surprise that loads of people were in the store, simply because the clothes are amazing. I actually thought that Aeropostale was just the basics like t-shirts and jeans but I realized there is much more you can find. I bought a simple jean jacket and I think it will be one of the staple pieces now that the rainy season is here. I can’t wait to go back and buy some more.
The launch was extraordinary and I had a great time watching the show and just simply being there. Shopping at the store was just as fun too. This is one store that truly caters to teens and young adults, a perfect store for us tweens. Thank you again to Tita Lindsey, the brand manager of Aeropostale for inviting me. Aeropostale is surely a place where everyone must go to find those colorful but different outfits they’ve always been looking for.
