After months of fixing schedules and finding the right dates, I finally had a collaboration with my childhood bestie, Nico Belasco. We were best friends (at the ages of four or something) but didn’t grow up together – he even lived in the United States at one point. Luckily, our families have been meeting up for all sorts of events in the recent years, reunions included. Our dads, Dwight Lago and Nic Belasco, used to be basketball teammates. However out of the two of us, only Nico carried on the basketball legacy. For me, ball is not lyf HAHA. But who knows, maybe one of my brother’s will continue playing basketball for the Lago family.
Anyways, onto the shoot. Knowing Nico as a talented event photographer, I figured he was good with high ISO’s, low apertures and flash photography. To try something different this time, we had a night shoot at BGC. That’s when I discovered that walking around our city isn’t bad after all. Just be extra careful when you’re crossing roads. For some odd reason, stoplights don’t really exist here in Manila. With that said, I knew it was best to be comfortable. Meet my lazy jogger pants – I wear these babies on road trips, plane rides, rehearsals and sometimes to malls too. The Seattle sweatpants are finally trending (hey Tita Amy, we can match now!) and I couldn’t be happier.
Once again, thank you so much to Nico for taking these great pictures. You’ll see that we actually have a lot in common – blogging being one of them. I felt honored when I found out that I was one of his inspirations when setting up his first blog, but soon enough, you’ll see that Nico has many talents of his own. This was one of the most chill shoots I’ve ever had. We pretty much made kwento the whole night, even when I was posing for the camera. Hopefully, we’ll have some more collaborations in the future. Be sure to check out his post here.
One more thing – one of my favorite memories was riding the “magic carpet” in Pier 39 with Nico and two more friends (hey Kyla and Reese). We had our adventure then, and our new ones have just started. I have no doubt that Nico Belasco Photography will go a long way 🙂
