EVER SINCE MY THIRTEENTH BIRTHDAY, my go-to designer has always been Ivarluski "Ivar" Aseron.  It's been three years since my mom and I discovered him. Whenever an event comes up, we still find ourselves sitting in his office for a dress consultation. Apart from my thirteenth, Ivar made me a few more cocktail dresses, blouses and even matching (but not cheesy) christmas outfits for my family. Ivar's signature style is edgy; he uses simple colors but comes up with interesting cuts, and that is why his work is always so eye catching. This particular dress was worn at my…

Over the summer, I took a one-week course on Digital Journalism at New York University. Last year I was certain of applying to NYU, but my rough experience there made me take it out of my university list completely. Spending a week or so at a university helps you better understand the personalities of current students, and I was quick to realize that i'm not as bold and outgoing as those at NYU. I felt inferior due to ability and even race. My tita once told me that "every experience has its value". Call me a girl with a bad attitude or someone with an unlucky experience, but I feel that,…

I always take long naps when we go on road trips, and it was no different when we made a one-day visit to Jersey Shore. I woke up in our car surprised to see that we were passing by pastel buildings and colorful amusement parks. It seemed that in every corner, there was always a motel. It also felt like we have traveled back in time to the 60's and my immediate thoughts were "this place is so cute!" and "Where can I take nice pictures?".On the other hand, my brothers were thinking "Let's go play carnival games and ride rides."  By the end of the day, I…

It's been three months since my surreal experience watching Hamilton at the Richard Rogers theatre, and I still find myself belting out tunes from this revolutionary musical. This isn't a review; it's an appreciation for all of the people who made this musical work because they dared to do something different. The man who started all of this is Alexander Hamilton himself, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Combining history and rap left people skeptic about the idea (the president of the United States included). However, after 7 years of putting it together, Hamilton has definitely taken the world by storm. I can go on about the storyline of the…

LET'S TALK HERSHEY. For all the chocolate lovers out there, Hershey, Pennsylvania is definitely a place worth visiting. Some may argue that the theme park is the main attraction. However, were already satisfied with eating chocolate for two days. So here's my recommendation:           1.Visit the hershey theme park for half a day or so. It's a step above Disney since there are quite a few roller coasters to choose from. Within the theme park is a waterpark too.       2. Make your own chocolate bar at Hershey's candy world. This is how an actual hershey factory line works! I…

I'M BACK WITH THE FOOD FINDS SERIES. For some reason, last year's visit to NYC lacked in glorious food pictures. But maybe it was a sign because this time around, we ate like champions. It's not every day we explore fine dining restaurants in New York. This experience made me step out of my picky eating habits as I finally put seafood and veggies in my mouth. Read on to learn more about four incredible food spots in NYC.   We ate here twice in a row for my moms birthday. Topped off with its signature sauce, there's nothing like a good juicy steak from Peter…
